For Today...Daybook

Outside My Window...Its early evening, hazy and warm.  The haze is from wild fires both in B.C. and Northern Saskatchewan. They make for lovely sunsets, bu m heart goes out to all the people affected by the fires.

I Am Thankful...That everything I was hoping for earlier has come to sweet fruition.

I Am Creating...A quiet, restful and memorable summer with my children. I love the slow pace albeit they're not too crazy about it sometimes. ;)

I Am Reading H- is for Hawk I have not gotten too far yet into the book, so I really don't have an opinion yet. I just hope its a good read.

I Am Learning...All about Bullet Journals. Its a neat concept, and I'm giving it a try this month. I'm all about organization and lists and notes. You can find more out about it here, but I loved the simple explanation about it at Dawn's blog.

In My Garden...I've harvested all the spinach before it bolted in this heat. The flowers in the front garden bed are starting to really take off with blossoms. I'm disappointed with my front pots though. The hot temperatures have for the most part burnt out the petunias and pansies no matter how carefully we watered them. Well back to the drawing board for next year I guess. I've also harvested enough plantain to make some more salve. Yes...that weed that you want to get rid of in your garden is actually nature's Neosporin.

Spinach...which should bot be mistaken for...

Plantain....

Wherein I harvested 8 cups...

This is the finished product from an earlier harvest of Plantain a month ago.

In The Homeschool Room...My orders for books are trickling in. The girls aren't too excited when they see a box at the post office. But it's Christmas in July for me! I LOVE new books and curriculum. Look for a post on this year's curriculum in the near future...not too soon though...wouldn't want to ruin anyone's summer ;)

A Favorite Quote... I wrote this one down after i saw it on one of my favorite mom Instagram feeds. It just resonated with me:

"This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm our heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete our life."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson~

Plans For The Week... Hiking with the family, MAYBE...that's a big MAYBE... a trip to the Calgary Stampede for the kids' sake and sanity, a trip to Heritage Park with the kids, and celebrating my son's 16th birthday this Friday.

A Few Pictures From The Last Few Days...

I call this "Hugs from Heaven"

Emilie on our friend's horse

Sophie on our friend's horse...and yes...both girls DID ride.

A rare but welcome sight, when Devin sits down and tries to learn a new song even though he hasn't taken formal lessons in 2 years.

I'm linking up today with The Simple Woman Blogspot and everyone else with their daybooks. Hope everyone has a wonderful week, Drop me a comment and let me know how your week is going!
