Well folks? This currently is my space.
No... I'm not organized this year. Everything is in a big heap. Last year I posted pictures of our space and it was so neat and pretty. However this year, I thought I'd keep it real. My dear readers this isn't Pinterest perfect AT ALL. I'm very blessed to have a designated space for homeschooling, but it took 10 plus years to get this space after 3 houses that we built! Two of my children who will be doing online school will have a designated homeschooling computer space, and my youngest, who I still teach traditionally will have her space too. Nonetheless, this is reality. We are not ready, and this space has become the dark hole where nearly everything for the last three months has gotten dumped.
I guess what I'm trying to tell homeschooling moms out there is don't sweat the small stuff. Find a space that works for you. And if it isn't completely picture perfect on the first day of school? Don't worry about it. It will eventually come together. Even after 14 years it's not always completely together, but we make it work.
I hate messes for the most part. I NEED to be organized. I literally become claustrophobic if there is too much "stuff " in my space. Will this designated home school space get cleaned up and organized in time for school. YES it will, but I've learnt to let certain things go, and I want to enjoy my time with my kids more than worry about that special home school space that may or may not inspire my kids to learn. In time, you will figure out what works for you and your family whether it be the kitchen table, a table in the basement, a picnic table outside or a nice room with shelves and windows.
Embrace the chaos and the mess. Enjoy your children. Enjoy learning together. That's what homeschooling is all about.
