This month's link up theme with The Canadian Homeschool Blogging Team is to write five posts about something Canadian. I've decided to focus on some good reads for older kids; mostly middle school. There are so many great Canadian novels and authors out there, that to focus on just five was nearly an impossible task! I'll share some of our family favorites, but this list of five does not even scratch the surface of all the ones we've enjoyed.
Let' start things off with The Sky Is Falling by Kit Pearson.
This award winning historical fiction is set during World War II. Ten year old Nora and her little brother Gavin are sent overseas from England to Canada to start a new life and escape the horrors of war. This is a touching story of the "war guests" who came to Canada. For more information and references about this book, Kit Pearson's other books, and Canadian war guests, a great place to start is www.kitpearson.com
