We are very fortunate to live in an area, where we can, and have taken a week off here and there to go downhill skiing. We don't have to worry about taking the kids out of school. We don't have to worry about catching up with their homework.
A few years ago, we would make the effort to go for a week ski trip. Our first trip with the kids was to Mount Norquay, in Banff National Park. The following year, we went to Nakiska, home of the 1988 Winter Olympics. A few years later, we headed to Panorama, B.C. We always headed to the slopes when we knew it wasn't an official school holiday. Why? Why not? No crowds, no line ups, just some great family fun, on OUR time!
It has been a great way to just spend some quality family time with the kids, away from the every day. It has been a great way for them to learn a new skill and get some extra physical activity. And dare I say it? They were learning without realizing it! They learned to ski, they learned skills from someone else besides mom. Fun with school! Bonding time as a family! Who knew homeschooling could be this much fun?
I'm joining up with The Canadian Homeschool Blogging Team at The Canadian Homeschooler to let you know how to make your homeschooling fun. Drop me a line and let me know how you make your days fun! I'd love to hear from you. Don't forget to enter 1 of 5 Picaboo Yearbooks too! What a great keepsake to remember all the fun you have had in your homeschool year!
How fun!
