Home Made Facial Wash

Since moving out from the city, I find that I don't get into the city as much to shop. I do my grocery shopping mostly in the town of Okotoks, but if I'm out of the extra stuff, I cope until the next time I' get a chance to get into the city... or I make do without.

I've been out of facial wash for eons...and so have the kids. It's on my list...really! But I finally decided to make my own. But Andrea...don't you still need things for home made facial wash? Wouldn't it be easier just to buy ready made if you're going into the city anyways? Yes...but alot of the ready made stuff has ingredients I can't pronounce. Plus it costs less to make your own if you buy and have on hand the proper ingredients AND I know what's going on my face and the kids' faces.

I found a great site with instructions and some simple ingredients over at Body Unburdened . Nadia has a simple recipe for clarifying and toning foaming facial wash. I tweaked mine just a bit to suit my needs, and I'm sure you could do the same. I used home made rose-hip oil, still from my stash, and I also used some geranium oil instead of lemon oil. I recycled a bottle and pump from Bath and Body Works. The result is fabulous! I washed my face, and it's not dry and tight. Rose-hip has nourishing and hydrating properties with vitamins A and C, while geranium oil also has some healing, nourishing and hydrating properties. I'll definitely make some for my kids, but substitute the geranium oil for lavender oil instead. Give it a try, and let me know what you think!
