Five Days Of Great Canadian Reads for Older Children

I'm continuing today with my five day post with the Canadian Homeschool Blogging Team. The next book on my list is Safe as Houses by Eric Walters.

I thought I'd touch on this book today considering we had some of our own excitement here with a near natural disaster. Did you see what I did there? I'm so sneaky ;)

Today's events are pale in comparison to the story of  Safe as Houses. (scary and intense as it was this afternoon)  This novel is based on the true accounts of Hurricane Hazel, which hit southern Ontario October 15, 1954. Follow Lizzie Hardy, as she encounters and braves the hurricane. Will she and her friends survive the terrifying night? For more information about this book head over to Eric Walters' website and also see a list of other great books. If you're interested in Hurricane Hazel, check out this site for more information about that fateful night. http://www.hurricanehazel.ca/
Stay tuned for some other great Canadian books for older kids. And I promise...no more scary pictures of tornadoes :)
