Elbow Falls

With the boys having their classes all online, its hard to "coordinate' a time for us to do activities together.  Last week, they finished their finals and diplomas, and I had a window of opportunity...well Thursday to be exact...for all of us to reconnect and just "be". What better way to reconnect but to go out and enjoy the wonderful weather we had been having.
We headed out to Elbow Falls which is about 1/2 hour away from our doorstep and situated at the edge of the Foothills in Kananaskis.

Let's just say, that it sure isn't what it used to be! I was completely taken aback by the damage that the floods of 2013 had done...the sheer force of water that went through this area...unimaginable!

It was a little disheartening at first, but as we walked in the newly forged riverbed, we still saw remnants of the beauty that there once was.

Maybe one day the proper walking paths will be restored, but a few rocky foot paths were not going to discourage us this day. The beauty and the outdoors was just the elixir the boys needed to head into their second semester of online classes. It did this momma heart good to see my kids just being kids and explore the newly forged sites of Elbow Falls.

  2. Wow what a beautiful place. I can't imagine what it must have looked like before the floods. What an amazing place to connect and reflect on the creator. #laceyslegacy
