What We Are Reading...

I dropped the ball when it came to Novel Studies this year. I did write out a plan back in September, but never followed through...up until now.  The kids did some free reading, and we are still involved in book club, but still, I came to the realization, we needed more. So, for January, I've managed to squeeze in Novel Studies as part of our English curriculum and hopefully we can continue until the end of the school year. Here are the choices for January.

Emilie is reading " The Whipping Boy"

I'm hoping to do a lap book with her, after she finishes the book. I LOVE lap-booking. Its so hands on, and visual...and fun.

Sophie already finished " Safe as Houses"

I'm note-booking this novel with her. There are more complicated themes and issues in this book. Nevertheless, Sophie could not put this book down. It was a page turner.

Christian is reading "Across Five Aprils"

I remember reading this around the same age that Christian is. It was one of my favorites, so I'm hoping to pass along my enthusiasm about this book to him. I"m thinking that we will do some note booking too, as there are more complicated themes in this book.

As for me? I have a few things on the go.

I"m working my way through this library stash...learning everything that there is to know.

This one is for my February book club.  I've heard mixed reviews about this one.

What about all of you? What is on your reading docket for 2013?
