Wednesday Wanderings: Brown-Lowery Provincial Park

Approximately 20 minutes south west of our humble home is a hidden treasure: Brown Lowery Provincial Park. This section of land, named after the original founders/owners of Home Oil Company, is a pristine day use area; perfect for a short hike. Yesterday we ventured out to see what Brown-Lowery is all about after four years of "wanting to check it out".

With muck boots, mitts, hats and warm winter wear (yes still) in hand, we hiked along 6 km of the 12 km of trail this park has to offer. Beginning in a pine covered valley, we hiked and wound our way up to a beautiful lookout. I'm sure if we would go again in the early summer, the trickling creeks, the lush vegetation and all the different natural habitats would make us stop and appreciate this hike even more than we did yesterday.  Spring cannot come soon enough so we can head out for more adventures like this! For more information and the history of Brown-Lowery Park, here are two sites that may be of interest. Alberta Parks and Brown-Lowery Provincial Park
