Dare I Say It?

Dare I say the "s" word? You know the one....Spring?  I'm afraid if I gush too much about how lovely the weather has been the last few days, it will all vanish  back into a deep abyss of ice and snow. So I will keep this short and sweet, and hope the weather continues to warm up, and we can thaw out here in Alberta.

Today it was just too nice to stay inside all day. Some of my crew, and myself, ventured out on the well worn paths of the acreage. We've walked this path before, but with the ever changing seasons, its nice to see what's out there. Today we were searching for pussy willows, but to no avail. Friends of ours in the next valley over (a 10 minute car ride) already have these fuzzy, soft celebrations of spring along their road. I was secretly hoping that there would be a bunch near the back of the acreage. But you never know, tomorrow is supposed to be 17 degrees Celsius (and there you go...I just ruined the hopes of many Albertans...so no more talk of gorgeous weather) so maybe...just maybe some will be popping out soon.

It was nice to listen to the trickle of the creek which is starting to thaw, but the knee deep snow in some places was not welcome by any of us. It really has been a long cold winter here. Lets hope that we can get out more and enjoy the outdoors a little more. Believe it or not, I'd like to complain about mud on muck boots and not snow in snow boots. I'm truly done with the snow scene until next November!

Good to see Sophie out and about again
