Oh the Stories You Might Have

Last Fall, we cut down a huge spruce tree next to the garage. With the building of the house, we thought it to be the best thing to do, not knowing how much damage the roots had. Plus, we just didn't want it come crashing through the guest room and garage one windy, stormy night.

Sophie took the time to count how old this giant was...54 years old! This old spruce was a seedling in 1959! Wow! Where were you 54 years ago? I wasn't even a twinkle in my parent's eyes! The stories this old spruce could tell all of us!  Now here comes the home-school mom...I might, as a "special project" take a slice of this tree, and we might just have to see how the climate was, and what the surroundings were for the past 54 years? Hmmm.. maybe a little bit of Dendrology ( the study of trees) ? Oh the possibilities ;)
