Gone AWOL

I have this tendency to post like mad then just disappear for awhile. My excuse this time, is our Internet service. Ever since the storms last month...I'm not kidding you...we've had very spotty service. Living out here, we don't have high speed Internet. Its one step up from dial up. I call it hamster mode. If the hamster falls off or gets struck by lightening, as is the case out here lately with all the severe thunderstorms we've been having; then we are goners.

I laugh though at how dependent we've become to get the news of the outside world with Internet. It's almost like everything and our everyday existence shuts down...and then I think: "Man are we fools!"
-No texting or emailing to family and friends...duh...what about the phone?
-Can't download anything? Hello? How did we exist before?
- Can't price things out online, or check different accounts? Here's an idea...get in your vehicle and go check things out in person!

Now I'm not saying that I'm a saint. I do ALL of the above ( I can' live without my Instagram ;) ) ...especially now that we live out here at the Ranche. It's easier for me to do everything in the comfort of my home instead of driving into the city and being part of the rat race of running around. However, having spotty service has had it's advantages. We've developed this "make do or make do without". Its just plain frustrating to watch the timer spin and spin and spin as we wait to get connected...so we just leave it in disgust. Its been great for me as a parent because the crew has not been immersed on the family Ipad nor their Ipods. They have been plugged into tunes drawing, filming LEGO, playing outside ( when its not raining) reading, helping me sew...just getting downright creative.

So do I mind going AWOL every once in awhile? Uhmm no. Its like a mini retreat..a time to refesh. But don't make me explain my nervous twitch because I've been itching to post something...anything! ;)
