But sports fans...we had a volleyball tournament today! Yes! It was the grade 7/8 boys volleyball tournament hosted by Notre Dame in High River.
This year, The Flight had 4 boys and 2 girls playing. The turnout for the boys wasn't the greatest, but with a wonderful new coach, the team of six ( yup...no subs) had a great day. No blowouts for a change.
They won their first set this morning 25-20 and then lost 25-21 both sets against John Paul II from Okotoks.
Their second game was against Holy Cross from Strathmore. The first set the Flight lost 25-5 (yup they got smoked) but came back in the second game 25-22 against them.
Everyone in their pool tied, so the teams were ranked by points for and against. CFL Flight played for 5/6 position. They played against Our Lady of Snows from Canmore, and won 2 out of their 3 games. First game they won 25-19, second won they lost 25-23, but came back to clench 5th with a score of 15-13.
The teams this year were evenly matched across the board, and the six kids on our team walked away smiling. It was a nail biter of a day for the moms, but it was great to watch these kids who only got together once a week for practice, having so much fun. Another great day!
