When the kids were younger, Dave and I used to read out loud to them almost ever night. As they got older, "life" and "busyness" got in the way of the precious 1/2 hour of snuggling down with the kids and reading to them. Having said that, I stumbled upon this blog and her post, about reading out loud, and I think I'm going to give this a try. What better way to connect with the kids...even if they are almost 15? Check out this link, and let me know how your Reading Revival attempts are Read Out Loud Revival. Don't forget to download your form to keep track!
Speaking of books and reading, we've started up our book club and writing club again for the school year, with our friends. September's theme was Graphic (comic) novels, and their writing assignment was to create a comic of their own. For the month of October we're focusing on mysteries. The older group is reading: Something Rotten and Something Wicked They are both teen novels loosely based on Shakespeare's plays of Hamlet and Macbeth. The younger group is reading When You Reach Me. Can't wait until our next meeting!
