So, what were we up to Canada Day? Horse racing of course. Sunday, we headed to the Millarville Racetrack to watch the 107th running of the horses. Amazing! The track is the 2nd oldest track in Canada, for all you history buffs.
We watched stock horse racing, side saddle racing, and then the big ticket item Thoroughbred horse racing. The power in these animals is phenomenal! They just want to run!
Between the races, they had, what is called "Dash for Cash" for the kids in the stands. My four participated in the 100 yard dash, sack races and three legged races for their age group, while their younger cousins cheered them on. They walked away with cash and candy. Devin won $20.00 for the 100 yard dash, and $5.00 for the three legged race ( his partner and him split the $10.00) Sophie won $10.00 in the three legged race, and some candy for the other races. Emilie won $2.00 in the sack race, and Christian won candy. Not a bad haul!
After the races, we headed back to the Ranche, and had a wonderful BBQ with family and friends.
Last night, as the kids got ready for bed, Devin said that this was the best weekend he's had. I think I have to agree with him on this. Here are some pictures from Canada Day. Enjoy!
