The last leg of our camping adventures led us to Whitefish, Montana. Dave and I had been there 15 years ago ( pre-babies), and this bustling little ski town certainly has grownup. It was a little too chilly to hang out at the beach, so we took a tour of the town, did the touristy thing and went into all the shops and sites. Again, it was a pretty laid back couple of days, and enjoyable.
Saturday, we were Alberta bound! We hit the border about 1:30, and it felt good! That day/night, we made a pit stop with Dave's parents, who were also Alberta bound, at
The Great Canadian Barn Dance . What a blast that was! We enjoyed a buffet style, home cooked supper of roast beef, roast chicken, baked potatoes, salads, and apple crisp with ice cream. After supper, we were entertained by... ahem....live entertainment...with a great group of....ahem...musicians? They rocked the house!!!! :) Then after...we headed upstairs to the dance floor, and learned to 2-step, and line dance. A live band kicked things up a notch, and the dancing began. We had sooooo much fun, and I have pictures to prove that my boys don't have 2 left feet...they are definitely a work in progress ;) (Too bad it's not the school year...the dancing lessons could have been part of their P.E. ) Just kidding!
BUT...my big highlight...THE BUTTERFLY...I squealed with delight! My husband thought I went nuts, and the kids looked at me like I had horns growing out of my head. In 10 seconds or less, I explained the steps, and away we went...all 6 us, with me dragging everyone out to the floor. I think I was about Sophie's age, and at a wedding in Milk River when I did the Butterfly last. Nevertheless, we had a blast!!!
We had a low key Sunday, but before we hit the road, we canoed around their little pond...again...P.E. skills :) I have to thank my mother-in-law for the pictures of us all canoeing :) I can't wait to see the line dance videos...those should be a hoot!
