Well the weather outside is still frightful, but did anyone participate in "The Great Backyard Bird Count"?
I managed to drag everyone out everyday except Friday.
Saturday, the kids and I headed down to Fish Creek Park, over by Shannon Terrace. We heard and saw black capped chickadees, and one male downy woodpecker.
Sunday, I thought we'd have more luck, so I suggested a trip to the acreage. However, besides a few chickadees, I still think the birds are down south enjoying warmer weather...wish I could join them :)
Yesterday, we headed back down to Fish Creek Park, but this time down to Beebo Grove. We were fortunate enough to see 2 female downey woodpeckers.
Even though, we didn't see too many birds, we still enjoyed our time just wandering Fish Creek and our acreage. On the website for The Great Back Yard Bird Count, there is a link, to participate all year round, if you see anything interesting. The kids and I are thinking we might have to sign up for that.
We'd love to hear from anyone, who might have participated in the bird count this weekend. Any neat sightings? If you're in a warmer area, we'd love to live vicariously through you , even for a moment ;)
Here are a few pics from the weekend. Enjoy!
