A Fresh Start...The One Where Nature Studies Trumps The Flu...

This week, I decided to batten down the hatches and cocoon with everyone. Devin is getting over a case of strep throat, Sophie and I are nursing a cold. Everyone else has managed...so far... to beat the odds against sickness. However, the late nights over the Christmas holidays, has drained everyone and Christian, Emilie and Dave are teetering on the edge of catching what the rest of us have. Its just a good time to say "No" to everything and rest the first week back after the holidays.

Today was the first day, that I felt somewhat good, and went for a 7.0 Km walk. (As I write this though, my overzealous optimism to get back in the saddle, has left me with a massive sinus headache.)  I also bundled up Christian, Sophie and Emilie and decided that cabin fever had gotten the better of them; and went for our first nature walk of the year. Unfortunately, Devin was holed up inside nursing his strep and studying for semester finals.

The weather was fantastic to "get lost" on our acreage, discover new rabbit trails, and claim some amazing treasures of the winter season. There were tracks and trails a plenty, and 3 feet of snow to plod through near the back of our acreage. I'm thinking we'll all have a good night sleep tonight...just what the doctor ordered.
