I'm joining up today with The Canadian Homeschooler. Their challenge this week is how we incorporate P.E. into our homeschooling.
I never thought I'd say this in a million years, but I need to thank my P.E. teachers in junior and senior high.Thank you for making all of us run 2X around the two football fields. Thank you for teaching us all those sports which we never thought we'd ever use "in the real world". Thank you for organizing canoe trips, skiing trips and every other outdoor education trip we ever did even though at the time I would have rather been sleeping in my own bed...not in some smelly hostel or tent.
Now, after having children myself, I now know the value of physical education which they were drilling into my head way back when.
When you sit day in and day doing the academics, children need an outlet. Not only do bodies get stale, but so do minds.
We are very lucky and blessed to be a part of a school board which offers a variety of sports activities. The list is endless; from parkour, golf, volleyball, basketball, soccer club ( a rumored hockey club this year...its in the works), skating, and a sports club for Senior High students We've also connected with other homeschoolers who participate in "boys only" P.E. Sports range from golf, baseball, hockey and soccer. Outside of the organized home-schooling sports, all four of the children are also involved in hockey. We don't do community hockey...that's just a little too intense for our liking, but we are involved in a recreational league ( more for the sanity of the mom and dad). We've gone skiing as a family in the past, and somewhere in the vast array of activities over the years, we've also taken swimming lessons. So you could say, that P.E. is a huge part of our homeschooling, and we've managed to find a balance between the academia and sports.

Thanks so much for joining in. :) I love that you guys have some amazing PE opportunities. (Parkour?! How cool is that?!) Great photos.
