This past week we started off with a bang with school and jumped right in with all activities. Can't really say that it was the best week to renew and breath, considering EVERYTHING began...including the start of Esso Minor Hockey week...but lets not get too ahead of ourselves because I might just start to hyper ventilate and pass out.
I have tried to revamp our academic schedule abit, and focus on more than just the 3 R's. Every Friday, we will be doing Nature Studies or Art. This past Friday we started off with Nature Studies. Now...I won't begin to tell you how it was a bit of a gong show at first. Boots, mitts, sketch books pencils and other supplies were not to be found...typical around here some days. Nevertheless, after my mini meltdown and me questioning how other homeschoolers manage to do things, we got it together, and headed into the great outdoors. We headed to the back grove of trees, and the grove of willows in front/NW side of the house.
Critter foot prints were abundant, and there were treasures to be sketched and found.
Nature Studies will be incorporated every 2nd Friday, and its a good thing. Not only do the kids get a chance to discover our treasures, they can also work out their wiggles.
If you are interested in incorporating Nature Studies into your days/curriculum, here is a great website/blog to use as a stepping stone, and guide.
