The last two weeks have been beyond crazy busy for us. We've been juggling junior high basket ball tournaments with science fair prep with all the other regular happenings in our lives.
Last Monday, we headed out to Strathmore for the Grade 9 regional basketball tournament. Sadly enough, our team was raked over the coals. It was a bitter sweet ending for Devin's school sports "career". Infuriatingly, there is no high school team for anything with CFL. It's sad, because Devin has attended basket ball and volley ball with the same group of dedicated sports minded kids since grade 5, and the school board we are with isn't willing to accommodate....well not yet ;) There are a few moms, including myself who will try to "voice our opinions" and come up with reasonable solutions in regards to high school sports. Hopefully we can make some head way.

Fast forward to this past Monday, we packed up the crew and headed to Okotoks for the grade 7/8 regional basketball tournament. Christian faired much better, and CFL earned a bronze medal. The boys lost the first game to a much stronger Grade 8 Blessed John Paul II team. Somehow they took that loss and turned it around winning their second game against Canmore's Our Lady of the Snows and the third game against Starthmore's Saint Joseph's. With team work, and the assistant motivational coaching of 2 "experienced" grade 9'ers ( Devin and "Burger") They pulled off a bronze standing.

Which brings us to yesterday: the first annual CFL Science Fair. For the last month or two, Sophie, Christian and Devin had been diligently researching and working on their science projects. We were up to our eyeballs in science fair projects. My parents basement was taken over with wooden bridges, foam buildings, a volt meter measuring the energy of fruits and veggies, and trifolds. Yesterday morning, we packed up the truck...again, headed to Okotoks...again, and participated in the Science Fair. What a great and inspirational day for all the kids who were there. All the projects were phenomenal, and everybody there, worked hard on some wonderful projects. In the end, our good friends, won 1st prize for elementary level, and 3rd prize for junior high. Devin walked away with a 2nd place ribbon for the junior high level. We now have the option of attending regionals March 21st. Uhmmm...not too sure if I'm ready for that considering we'll be in the middle of organizing and unpacking...plus momma here needs some time to exhale...
