Over the course of time, I have written about why I love homeschooling, and those "A-HA" moments. Here are two more reasons.
1. Family involvement : I love the fact, that when I don't know how to approach certain topics such as science, Dave can step in and guide the kids....even if it's before bedtime.
2. Independent learning and exploration : This is something that doesn't happen overnight, or all the time. It's definitely something that is still a work in progress. All 4 of the kids still need guidance and supervision most of the time. But certain times, when I sit back and watch them sort through their "stuff", I have an "A-HA" moment. Sometimes its great to watch the kids run with their ideas and thoughts like now, as we are preparing for first annual science fair with our school board. They have been working hard getting their research together, but still need our help for the "bigger things". I LOVE the fact though, that after one "session" with Dave, Sophie has taken the initiative to try experimenting with her project on her own. How cool is that?
