1. I have unresolved issues with my junior high P.E. teacher who taught me social dance,and my kids need to feel the pain and humiliation I went through in junior high....pfffft.
2. Social dance is a life skill which helps when you want to look cool for the chicks and the hotty boys later in life.
3. We need to fulfill PE requiremnets, with other activities than just hockey.
4. I love my children, and don't want them to have 2 left feet or be wallflowers when it comes to dancing.
Nevertheless, they did have fun in their first of four Social Dance Classes (offered by our school board).
...And yes my boys are the only 2 boys in this class ( 8 are girls) . Their teacher taught them "the basic box step" for the waltz, and eventhough I had to pull Sophie out a half hour early, so she could go to her piano exam, the boys had the chance to try "New Mexican Style" line dance during the last half hour of class.
Any family events with dances coming up? The kids will be ready to dance up a storm in four weeks.
Hmmm... maybe a trip back to the Great Canadian Barn Dance this summer ;)
