Isn't It Funny...?

Isn't it funny, when there is indifference, and tension in ones' lives, God knows how to hit you on the head with a ton of bricks? ...In a good way that is. He reminds us, especially today, that no matter what, He is there for us, and is routing for us...even on this particular day, which happens to be our 16th wedding anniversary
I'm not one to wear my heart on my sleeve, if I don't need too. Dave and I pretty much keep to ourselves, to the frustrations of many.  And really, everything is pretty much great here at 1336 Shannon Common SW. However, I won't lie, things have been a little stressful with a new company, new house building, and trying to get this one ready to sell. Other little idiosyncratic issues have crept up throughout the year as well....but I don't want to digress.
So getting back to what's so funny.
Today the kids and I went to morning mass, like we try to do Fridays. I actually listened today ( not that I don't any other day), but I was secretly hoping that because today was special, I'd have a heavenly cheering section...and you know what? I did!!!
Now...this isn't word for word, but I hope everyone gets the idea...the Reader's Digest version of the Gospel. It's when Jesus is talking to his disciples, and tells them to follow him and take up their crosses. ( NO....Dave isn't my cross.).

The point I want to mention is what our priest said. Crosses, aren't necessarily, the bad stuff that happens all the time. It's not the sickness, job loss, major stresses, etc. Crosses include, obedience, and selflessness. It's the thinking of others, before yourself.
Wow!...and some of you are probably going huh?  But think of it...if we put all our he said/ she said daggers away, and really focus on what marriage is...that's what it's truly about. It's a good cross to take up.

Dave and I have been through much in 16 years, and through it all, we've stuck together like Crazy Glue. Today, truly was an amazing morning, and it truly lifted my weary self. I think,  despite our faults, and all those wolves knocking on the doors once in awhile throughout the years,  we try and remember to think of each other first. The bad days happen when we focus on ourselves...the me, myself and I.  Today, Someone up there, just had to remind me of how blessed I am, and how He and everyone else up there is routing for us...even on our not so good days.

Happy Anniversary to my forever always.
