Fast forward a few year, and UNO has become a family favorite of ours. When my parents come over for dinner, we rarely miss the opportunity to engage in a rip roarin' raucous game of cards. I'm sure if the windows were open, the neighbors might consider to call the police on us for disturbing the peace! Yup, it gets THAT loud, and THAT intense! Once the well worn flap less box of faded and bent cards come out, the teasing, loud cat calls, belly laughs and bragging rights, bubble to the surface.
Honestly, the kids go crazy cuckoo over UNO, whether they win or lose. They're always trying to outsmart, and outwit each other, or the adults. It usually catches up with them though, and not for the better. Lately, they even have bragging rights for the biggest loser! They have taken the game to a whole new level.
Dave and I sit back and watch the chaos enfold each time we play ( loving every moment). My parents? They have fun playing and watching the 3 ringed circus too. I don't think they hear so much noise, as they do when we play UNO. I'm sure they leave our house with their ears ringing.
We have 2 shelves of other family games which we do play, but not as much as this one. I think, when the kids grow up, and move away, I'll tuck a pack of UNO cards into their "stuff". You never know, maybe it will trigger some great memories and some new family traditions.
