Bookworms' Bookshelf
Our bookshelf is expanding once more.
Devin is reading Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. It is a graphic/cartoon novel describing the author's life in Iran during the political turmoil of the1970's. This read is for the Monkeyshines book club. For the March meeting, he will be reading Shaken, by Canadian author Eric Walters. This storyline deals about the recent Haitian earthquake.
For novel studies, both Devin and Christian will take a plunge, and try their hand at a little Shakespeare. I thought I'd keep it light and attempt A Midsummer's Night Dream. Sue at Monkeyshines, has found a wonderful graphic/cartoon novel for us, so I'll be making my way over to Marda Loop to pick it up. Anything to make Shakespeare fun :)
Christian is reading 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass, for book club. It's a light read for him, but he is enjoying it.
Along with Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George for book club, Sophie is starting The Magician's Elephant by Kate Dicamillo, for novel studies. Kate Dicamillo books are a perennial favorite at our house.
Emilie is enjoying Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Meet Kit- An American Girl by Valerie Tripp. The Little House in the Big Woods is less daunting for her, because Emilie is reading along with a book on CD. Books on CD!!! They're awesome!!!
Have a look at our Bookworm's Link above, and see if anything is of interest. If you click on the book covers, there will be reviews of the books ( not by us). Happy Reading :)
