A Lesson from Blues Clues

It has been a nice break from all the school and extra activities, and it was nice to coast through December. However today we were off, out of the gates full steam ahead. Well...more like gentle coaxing to get the Keenan klan back into the swing of things.

Looking ahead at our January calendar, I'm tired already. Both boys write their practical piano exams in 2 1/2 weeks, basketball practice starts up again for the boys tomorrow, hockey starts for everyone this Saturday...and I have not included the myriad of other fun things going on for the next few weeks/months.

I'm a little nervous about our studies as well.
I've decided that we'll all tackle the Renaissance period for Social, and my ideas for this unit are shall we say...ambitious?  We'll see how this goes.

While Devin continues with his science program, the other 3 will be doing Zoology/Animals. I'm hoping to tie in Sophie's January novel study ( Misty of Chincoteague) and a unit on horses with science as well.

This is also Christian's year to write the dreaded grade 6 PAT's ( Provincial Achievment Test) in Math and Language Arts. I dread them, more than I think the kids do :)  Enough said about this topic...

I guess the lesson here, to keep us sane, in the upcoming few months, will be to remember to "Stop, Breath, and Think". Not every day will be, and should be a "WOW" day.  If anyone who reads this post ( and has watched Blues Clues )  can remind me of that every once in awhile...that would be much appreciated.  Now... where is my big red thinking chair?
