Weekly Recap...or is it Weekly Recupe?

We've finally started to thaw out from a very, early, deep freeze. Can you believe, that Alberta was the 2nd coldest place IN THE WORLD, this past Tuesday. Really!!??? Antarctica was 1st. The only thing I hope, is that this pleasant Chinook eases up a bit, because, I'd still like a White Christmas, and Devin's headaches are driving him nuts. So, enough about the weather.

I win the mother of the year award....not. Tuesday night was book club for Devin. Unfortunately, for the 13+ group at Monkeyshines, there is not a very good turnout. It's Devin, and another girl. On the flip side, we held our meeting at the Starbucks a block away from the bookstore. Naturally I was very excited...I finally get to take my boy to Starbucks, and sit and chat about books (not quite what a 13 year old has in mind....especially when he has to miss a hockey game) Nonetheless, we had fun. Now...this is where it gets interesting, and I don't get any accolades or awards. In my excitement, I ordered Devin a Grande Peppermint Mocha with whip cream and sprinkles. Nothing wrong with that, right? WRONG! In my mind Mocha means chocolate...yum...but I TOTALLY forgot about ordering it decaff...UH OH!  Need I say more? What happens when you have a boy who has NEVER had coffee, chocolate and probably some extra sugar all mixed together in the same drink? By the time we got home, he was talking a mile a minute. Dave figured that I should've dropped him off at hockey after book club, because whatever energy he had from his caffeine high, the team could've used it, even if it was for a few minutes.

The week got better...or should  I say more interesting :) In science, Emilie Sophie and Christian are still working through their anatomy and physiology notebooks. Yesterday we covered the topic of digestion. This led to some interesting discussions to say the least, and some far fetched imaginations letting loose. I'm not too sure how my 2nd grader imagines the digestive system. Now, we all know, our stomach produces/secretes acid to break down the food, and help with digestion. We also know about acid indigestion, how it happens, etc. Do you see a common theme here yet? (acid) Well Emilie for the last 2 days has announced she has a stomach ache, because ALL the acid in her stomach is sloshing around...like after you drink alot of water and feel that sloshing around. Uhmmm....really???!!!  It's amazing what a back rub will do to get a 6 1/2 year old back on track. :)

Well, this weekend, I'll be getting ready for our 1st facilitator visit on November 30th, and trying to get things organized for Advent, so I'll be sure to post more of our going on's in the next little while. There are no pictures with this post, because the boys are busy making another stop motion movie for Christmas, and need the camera. I won't blow the surprise on that, and hopefully I can figure out how to post it on the blog for sharing. It's going to be a good one!
