Today was the Grade 9 tournament in Okotoks. Holy Trinity High School hosted all the Jr. High teams. Devin, his friend Josh, and two more boys were called up to play with the grade 9ers. Talk about baptism by fire for the grade 7/8ers! They made a valiant effort as a team, but lost most of the games. Our grade 7/8ers held their own with their grade 9 team mates. When it was their turn to play, they made us proud! None of the younger boys backed down from some very fast paced sets.
After our team's elimination, us moms', who were the cheering section for our boys, reminded them, that this was just a warm up for their tournament next Monday. They could take today's experience and make it work for them positively, next week. So stay tuned for next week results with the Grade 7/8 volleyball tournament. GO CFL FLIGHT !
Just as an end note: It may look like Devin was on the bench alot, but honest, he did play :) Coach was great at letting the 7/8ers play in and substitute. Next week...action shots ;)
Hi Keenan Family,
ReplyDeleteI finally had a moment to check out updates on your fun site! I was sure to bookmark all your great website finds! Andrew and I especially enjoyed the Muppet video (personally, I had a good chuckle at the last bit).
As I was reading through your notes about volleyball, it really struck me that this grade 9 tournament was a preparation for us, moms too. Our boys are growing up! And despite all my worries of a David and Goliath type tournament, I Discovered that our little Davids are quite capable, brave really and well... the Goliaths turned out to be pretty nice too, not so monstrous...
Keep up the great posts!
Judi and Andrew
