I sit here in front of the screen wanting to write something witty and profound. I should pour out my heart in prayer. However all I can think about is the big pile of pots and pans and left over dishes that need to get washed after our big family dinner last night. Here's the thing though, I'm thankful for that mess. No sighs about cleaning...no...really...just the afterglow of happiness and contentment.
I'm thankful, because I have such a big extended family, for whom I care about, and I hope vice- versa. I'm thankful for the mess, because amidst all our set backs this past year, we can come together and enjoy a wonderful feast, and each other's company, and not worry about anything, except if we have enough gravy to go around :) I'm thankful because my kids have time with their cousins, big and small, and they can just be kids. I'm thankful, I have a husband, who enjoys being with me in the kitchen, and helping me prepare such a big meal. I'm thankful for 2 boys, who have discovered the art of cooking, and love to make pies for whomever will eat them. I'm thankful for my 2 girls, who want to help out in the kitchen so bad, but would rather lick beaters and bowls.
My gratitude and thankfulness is unlimited, and I'm sure I"m just getting warmed up with my Thanksgiving list. However, I sit here in the silence of the morning ( yes everyone but the dog is still sleeping) and realize that everyday is Thanksgiving, and not just this long weekend. Everyday I have a gratitude list that is at least an arms length long. Now, that's something to be thankful for, isn't it?
Happy Thanksgiving to all my family and friends. May your lists of gratitude and thankfulness be unending.
