Just as they thought it was safe, and the books could wait another 2 months....WRONG!!! No just kidding :)
The kids started the library summer reading adventure a few weeks ago, and have managed to keep up to that. Even Emilie is getting into it, and reading to her heart's content. Today, we met for our other "book club" at Monkeyshines Bookstore in Marda Loop. ( I LOVE that bookstore...don't even get me started...did I say I LOVE this children's bookstore?) Anyways, the goal of this summer book club, is to read advanced reviewer copies (ARC mailings and giveaways) that the owner (Sue...she's an amazing lady) receives. She has a HUGE stack of books in her back store room, and so, she has asked her book club kids ( about 20 of them) to "help" her read them for the summer! They all picked three books each, and have to report back at the next meeting in August if they would recommend these books. They rate them out of five bananas ( thus keeping with the theme of the store). Devin, Christian and Sophie picked some very interesting books. Christian managed to snag a book from a new series that is equivalent to the girls version of the "Dear Canada" series. ( Whoohoo to all of us with boys!) It looks like a good one. Devin picked out one, and no word of a lie, the author's name is...get ready for this...Olugbemisola Rhuday Perkovich. I think I'll have to read this book after Devin, just because of the name! Check out the summer list of books we are all reading. I'll update the list as the summer whizzes by. Maybe there will be some of interest to you!
